HIGHWAY TRAVELERS

Our trip to Georgia and Florida

My brother Gerry bought himself a Southwind Storm Motor Home. He wanted to visit his children and our sister in Georgia and our brother in Florida.  So I said I would go with him.

Gerry and his Southwind Storm

His daughters decorated it all up with Roosters. I laughed, how can I sleep with all these roosters waking me up every morning? But I slept just fine.

5/26/04 We started out on a clear day. They said rain, storms all around us, but we were headed south and everyone said the weather was great. We stopped to get propane then to Wal-Mart for stuff for the toilet and sink. Got film and gray water conditioner and a mug for coffee.  Driving down I - 79 and looked out the passenger side window and Oh Oh the little mirror is gone. Must have lost it.

our view of the highway

Traffic jam, trucks and cars ahead as far as you can see. It took 45 minutes to  go 13 miles.  82 mile marker. It's dark but looked like a camper  or trailer turned over maybe burned.

5/27/04 Up at 4:20 am ready to go down the  road. It's dark but warm.  Doesn't pay to be a good Samaritan. At 3:30 a.m., a man knocked on the door of the motor home, wanting gas money. Strange as it seems Gerry said something woke him up. Thinking back on it now, the gas tank is under the license plate in the back, and when you close it, it makes a noise.  Gerry thinks that is what woke him up.  Because stopping for gas we realized there must have been about 5 gal gone. No matter where you are traveling, always be careful

Made it to Georgia at 8:05 am.
