Sunday, it's the 2nd of October. Sun is shining and we are having fun.
Talked with family in Erie, all is well there.
We are heading out this morning, going to Kingman, Arizona to visit Bernice.
Stopped for the night at a K Mart Plaza. Talked to sister Daisy and let her know  we are heading to Bullhead City. Maybe they will meet us there.
Monday noon - here we are at Bullhead City.

Tuesday morning and the sun is shining. We are heading for the Golden Nugget Casino, they have a penny machine and I am going  to try my luck.

Wow got a ticket for one cent. Sent it to Marg as a souvineer Click here to see the actual ticket

Talked to family back home and all is well.

Taking a ride up to Searchlight, Nevada and then maybe on to Quartzsite, Az.
Here we are in

Click for Quartzsite, Arizona Forecast
It has changed so much since Bill and I were here.
We are going to stay here a week. There is water, dump station and even port-a-pottys  in case you don't want to use your own toilet.
We are going to go into town and see if we can get our mail sent here General Delivery. If so I will let the family know they can write to us here.
Visit this website and see what all there is to do here.

It says SIDEWINDER Way 10/6/05 Sun is shining and we are going to go into town today.
We are parked on the South Side of LaPosa, BLM lands. That's (Bureau of Land Management) which is $140.00 to park from Sept 15th to April 15th. You can stay "short Term" for $30.00 for 14 days.
LaPosa has 4 camps N-E-S and West. They have  rest rooms, dump station, water and our trash hauled away.
We are in the South Section which must be over 100 acres. It will hold a lot of campers - long term. We can also go to nine other camping places in Calif. and Az.  We won't try them all but will go to Calif. in December.

Yesterday John took a shower using the outside faucet. It didn't take long to warm up the water and the weather was so nice. I wasn't that adventurous, I took a shower inside. It's so easy to talk to family back home with cell phones. I remember having to write a letter and then waiting for a reply. Bill and I would travel into town and pick up our mail from General Delivery, get groceries, propane and head back out.

2:00 pm our time, back from town. Things are sure different now. You need a driver's license and two forms of ID to get a post office box.  Well I don't have a driver's license, but between John and I we got an address for the next three months, so  you can write us at

P.O. Box 1857
Quartzsite, Arizona 85346

We will be traveling, but always come back to check the mail.
Oh Oh it's my birthday and John had coffee and breakfast going.  The birds are outside already and really enjoying this desert sun. We went into town and found out there was a Luau planned  and thought that maybe we would go, but we didn't.  I got phone calls wishing me a happy birthday and let everyone know we are having a good time.  Sending a CD of photos to my daughter so she can post them here.
Tuesday - 10/11/05  Talked to our sister Daisy and  they are on their way to Bullhead City. Coming from Ohio, it will take them a few days to get here. In the meantime John and I are taking short walks in the desert and just relaxing. We played a couple games of cards and watch some TV.
It was windy over the weekend, but still nice and a lot warmer than back home. Heard from the family it got cold enough to pull out the heavy blankets.
Going to the post office this morning to check on the mail. Marg said she sent us some information to get on the internet way out here in the desert.
Went to town and there was a big long line for the mail. None for us today, maybe tomorrow.
I got a hummingbird feeder to hang out on the cactus near our camping spot. Every day hummingbirds are outside in that cactus.
John made a feeder out of a plastic bottle, but it is too  big so they were leery to come and feed.

We will see how this one works.

When I bought this camper I got three days free at the RV Resort in Tucson, so I called them today and made a  reservation for Nov 15th, 16th and 17th. We will see Gunda and Rita then also.

Thursday, just did a wash and going back to our spot to hang it out  to dry. Marg asked if I was going to fling it over a cactus, but no, we have a clothes line and clothes pins and all.

It was dry in an hour!
This is how you do laundry in the desert.

Got mail from home and birthday cards from family. It took FIVE DAYS to get a card here from Pa. But of course we have a holiday and then a weekend.
Checked out Internet connections at "The Ranch", they are just setting up and their signal isn't very strong. People in town said the "snowbirds" will be arriving soon. This place will fill up fast. Told John we should go get supplies because this weekend the town will be swamped.

Talked to sister Daisy and they will be in Bullhead City by the end of the week. We will drive up to
see them.
Saturday 10/15/05  Windy here, supposed to get rain tomorrow.
The neighbor's are having trouble with their awning. John went across the way to see if he could help. We took ours down this morning when we went to town. Went to the dollar store and to the post office (but no mail) and now we are having our second breakfast of the day .We had coffee and toast  this morning, but now we are having more healthy breakfast. I wanted a frying pan because my pans just slide all over the stove when you try to cook.
Daisy and Pim are in Bullhead City RV Park #45. We will drive up to see them tomorrow.
Had a nice visit with Sister Daisy and her husband. They are at 1610 Highway 95 in Bullhead City, Arizona. They have a nice  new 5th wheel, big and roomy.

Click for more photos of Sister Daisy and husband Pim and their new 5th wheel

(They lost theirs during the hurricane Katrina) We will come back up to see them when our brother Jim comes to visit next week.

Tuesday morning and it's raining here in the desert.  We are sitting here watching people scurry to get their stuff inside. It doesn't rain much here but when it does, it pours.
