WESTWARD  HO Sept 11, 2004

Boarded up the house and said goodbye to the family.   Chilly morning but at least no rain.

Gerry and his Southwind Storm

Where to now?

We plan to stop in Ohio to visit our sister Daisy, spend the night and then travel on to Texas.
My brother in law and his wife live there. Depending on the weather we may stay a couple days.
Then the long haul across to Arizona.  We plan to go to Tucson to visit friends and family members.
Then on up to Apache Jct. and maybe even Nevada.
Since I don't have internet access, my daughter will update this site.
Stop back to see where we are on the map.  I have my cellphone  814-572-8916  so I am only a phone call away.

Gerry and I left on Sept 11, 2004 headed west Spent the night visiting Daisy and Pim in Ohio Well stop to visit Pearl and Paul.
Check out Texas weather Going to visit everyone we can Will visit Kate and maybe going up Superstition Mountain Plan to visit brother Jim and family Visiting Bills brother Joe and his wife Betty We are going to gamble here! Ghost Town? could only go 35 miles an hr. Wow has this changed.

Found out that the cellphone doesn't work in certain areas.
Daisy and Pim were glad to see us. We left the next morning. Weather nice.
Stopped in Tennessee, had a little rain. Talked  to family back home. (cellphone worked good)
Made it to Pearl and Paul's. Nice weather. May stay a few days.
Helped Pearl at her table at the local flea market. Weather says another hurricane hitting Louisiana, we may leave tomorrow.
On our way west.  Stopped in Texas canyon. Gerry looking up at the rocks in Texas Canyon Tomorrow we'll be in Tucson.
Went to Tombstone, it was raining and they were closed. Too early in the morning. I took a couple pictures. they didn't
turn out.
Saw Gunda. Nice weather, will stay a few days. Called home and all is well there.

Kate has a real nice place. We only stayed the one day. We couldn't park anywhere except in a drugstore parking lot.
I asked the clerk if it was ok, she said Yea. But after they closed it was dark and too noisy, Gerry said Let's get
 out of here.
I wanted  to visit my friend Bernice but when I called her phone number it had been disconnected.  I had no way of
knowing where she moved to. So we headed out again.
We wanted to go visit our brother Jim. For some reason I thought he lived in Sedona and we headed there.
We made it to Sedona but I realized he doesn't live there, he lives in Prescott Valley.  We drove through Jerome (it's an
old Ghost Town). Gerry had  to drive 35 miles and hour the whole way. Big motor home, small highway.
When we got to Prescott Valley we called Jim.  Evelyn  said he was at work but we should come over. When he got home
we were there.  He looks good for SEVENTY-FOUR.  He shaved his mustache and dyed his hair.  He does landscaping
and doing well.
We are going to Bullhead City and then down I-95 to Needles, California. (Its just across the border)

Laughlin, Nevada

Now we are headed for Texas.  Just passing through.  Our sister Daisy and her husband have left for their winter home in
Biloxi, Mississippi and we plan to visit them for a day or so before moving on.
Talked to my daughter this morning there are 4 messages on my cellphone. I wasn't able to hear them. she said probably people wishing you a Happy Birthday.
We are having a good time.

Saturday afternoon, Margaret called me as we were on the road headed North.
We spent 2 days with Daisy and Pim. Went to the casino and played the penny and nickle slots. Gerry has a cup of quarters, so we came out ahead. Had a good time.

Tropical Storm Matthew is in the area and I think we should leave. We will head north. Gerry says look at all the trees down and the billboards that the signs (paper) is torn off by the winds. We will keep moving to get out of this weather, although there is no rain at this point. I think the storm went through before we got here.

Arrived home on Monday Oct. 11th. Kids happy to see us. Neighborhood didn't change that much. Only gone a month.
Gerry ready to winterize his motor home and get it done before it turns cold.  Burr turned the furnace on, but glad to be
home.
